Our sensor fundamentals
Freespace sensors
Sensor intelligence
As offices and places of work evolve, sensing technologies provide invaluable data on space demand, use, and occupancy. Office sensors enable you to prepare for the unexpected, identify new trends in behaviors, and adapt to changes in real-time. Freespace sensors provide multiple data opportunities, interpreted and visualized within the Analytics Portal.

Freespace ONE sensors
Monitor occupancy and workspace availability
A simple peel-and-stick device, the Freespace ONE sensor is placed underneath desks or on walls to monitor occupancy and environmental conditions. Office occupancy data is sent to the cloud for operational and analytical use – live signage displaying available spaces and a range of dashboards and reports giving a breakdown of the space’s utilization.
In addition to occupancy, the ONE sensor has optional temperature, humidity, noise and light measurement capabilities that can be enabled and disabled remotely through software settings.

Freespace TIM sensors
Heat mapping to show how people use space
Freespace TIM sensors are mounted to ceilings in meeting rooms and open areas to provide anonymous data measurements. Thermal imaging devices turn heat into visuals – counting the number of occupants within a space and showing their movement and behavior.
With these office sensors, you can gather insights into how busy your spaces are, how many seats are underused, and where people sit within an open space. Send office occupancy data to the cloud for operational and analytical use – live signage displaying available spaces and a range of dashboards and reports giving a breakdown of the space’s utilization. In addition to occupancy, TIM sensors have optional light and noise measurement capabilities, enabled and disabled remotely through software settings.
Freespace FLO sensors
Measure the number of people entering a space
Freespace FLO sensors are ceiling-mounted devices capable of simultaneous bi-directional detection – for use in the places where you need to know how many people have crossed into or out of a threshold or space.
FLO provides the data you need to understand the average and peak flows and live occupancy levels. Combine thermal imaging technology with fast data capture and processing for truly anonymous counts of people moving through channels. Measure flow and occupancy levels on overall floors or more defined spaces: from rooms to washrooms, corridors to the cafeteria. Housed in a square enclosure measuring only 65mm x 21mm, FLO is an inconspicuous and cost-effective solution for every space.

Freespace PAM sensors
Monitor metrics that improve office environments
Freespace PAM sensors are wall-mounted devices to monitor air quality and ambiance in office spaces. Sensors measure levels of CO2, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and Particulates (PM2.5), all known to be detrimental to health in larger quantities, as well as temperature, humidity, noise and light – housed in a square enclosure measuring only 65mm x 26mm.
PAM helps you understand the air quality and ambiance within a specific area, providing actionable data to external systems. PAM is discreet, keeping an eye on your air quality, with visible indicators should thresholds be exceeded.

Integrations
Sensor data offers value in a wide range of applications. Freespace make this value real in both internal and third party products, as well as offering open API access for clients and solution providers.
See all integrationsNo. Freespace sensors do not have cameras and do not visually record people or output video footage. All of Freespace sensors are anonymous by design, and capture movement, heat or temperature change, humidity, light, noise, air quality or count when someone enters or exits a space. You can find out more about Freespace sensors on the technology page.

Occupancy sensors provide real-time data that can be actioned to improve processes across facilities, office space, workplace management, real estate and more. Some of the benefits of occupancy sensors include:
- Creating more practical workspaces that meet employee’s needs, based on demand data.
- Ensuring hygiene and maintenance is efficient and kept to a high standard at all times, throughout your estate.
- Identifying vacant spaces then reducing costs and waste, by controlling lighting and temperature.
- Creating a better working experience for employees by managing desk and meeting room usage, improving productivity and gaining visibility over conference room or workspace availability.
To find out more about the benefits of occupancy sensors and the insights they can provide for your organization, contact our sales team and share the details of your project.
There are a variety of data points that can be measured and reported on by occupancy sensors, and provide insights that drive business intelligence. Some key occupancy metrics are utilization rates, peak and off-peak utilization, meeting room occupancy, and person to desk ratio.
